That's how I feel about blogging. This is my first blog entry and even though I have no idea what I am doing, I figured the best way to get started was to just dive in. Now I'm blogging.
Diving In
by Jon Pushkin under
The other day I took my puppy swimming for the first time. She's a lab so she dove right in, followed my other lab and pretty soon she was swimming. Nothing to it. She was having a blast with the other dogs like she'd been doing it all her life.

as you know jon, i used to have 2 labs and would risk letting them swim in the lake at washington park, until i got a ticket and had to go to court. i pleaded no contest and the judge suspended one $35 fine and made me pay the other. was it worth the risk for the enjoyment it brought me, and more importantly, the dogs? absolutely! so, yes, we took a risk and dove in, the dogs literally did and i did metaphorically. if only they could have helped me pay the fine!
That dog story takes me back to my youth......a time when i was naive and had a small white dog. Now, i never let this dog go in the water because i was afraid. Afraid she would drown. I consider this to be a metaphor for diving in because if i had taken a risk and let my pup swim then she probly would have died a horrible death and i would have been sad. But on the plus side there would be no fine.
